Carfax Gives Local Groups 'A Day at the Races'; Company Donates Tickets To Local Boy Scouts, Red Cross For Carfax 250 on Aug. 19

August 15, 2006
BROOKLYN, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 15, 2006--The most trusted provider of vehicle history information will provide NASCAR Busch Series Carfax 250 tickets to those that serve the community.

Carfax announced today that it will donate over 750 tickets for Saturday's Carfax 250 at Michigan International Speedway to members of the American Red Cross and the Boy Scouts of America as a reward for the groups' overwhelming records of community service and support.

"This is a great way for us to give back to the community that has welcomed us with open arms," said Larry Gamache, communications director at Carfax. "The Carfax 250 is shaping up to be a thrilling event. We're honored to have these groups join us to experience the excitement of our first-ever NASCAR sponsorship."

The American Red Cross is a fixture at Michigan International Speedway throughout the year, acting as a major sponsor of the Spirit of America 500 blood drive. The Spirit of America 500 was established in 2002 to remember the victims and commemorate the heroes of the September 11, 2001 attack on the United States of America. The 5th annual Spirit of America 500 will take place on September 11, 2006 at MIS with the help of hundreds of exceptional volunteers.

"This is a great opportunity for us to reach out to the donors who contribute to our blood supply in the summer months," said Sharon Jaksa, CEO of the American Red Cross Great Lakes Region Blood Services. "This is great timing for us. With school being ready to start very soon, this is an absolutely great chance for people to close their vacation and for us to get the word out about the importance of blood donation."

The Boy Scouts of America have partnered with Michigan International Speedway for over 15 years through the annual MIS/NASCAR Boy Scout Banquet. Held since 1991, the MIS/NASCAR Boy Scout Banquet has been important in the support of local Boy Scout projects and initiatives. Since 1991, the banquet has helped raise over 1 million dollars for the Great Sauk Trail of the Boy Scouts of America. The event has honored many legendary racing names, such as Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip, Jack Roush, and Benny Parsons.

"We're certainly very grateful for the support from Carfax," said Vic Pooler, Endowment Director for the Great Sauk Trail Council of the Boy Scouts of America. "We are pleased to be able to share this generous commitment with the Boy Scout leaders throughout our territory. Leaders in Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Brighton, Howell, Lenawee County, and many other areas of Southeastern Michigan will certainly enjoy this gift."

Tickets for the Carfax 250 are currently on sale at MIS's official website, www.MISpeedway.com, or by calling the MIS ticket hotline at 1-800-354-1010.
