2009 CARFAX 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race Summary

August 16, 2009
Brian Vickers, driver of the # 83 Red Bull Toyota, was running on fumes when he took the checkered flag in dramatic fashion to win the CARFAX 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway. NASCAR elites Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards and Sam Hornish Jr. followed closely behind Vickers.

The first-ever CARFAX 400 had two grand marshals to help kick off the race – Jordan and his younger brother Jacob Vanderstel, from Hudsonville, Mich. Both boys are living with muscular dystrophy and receive care through the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich. They are huge NASCAR fans; Jordan's favorite driver is Jimmie Johnson while Jacob prefers Jeff Gordon.
