
The 2006 CARFAX 250 had NASCAR fans buzzing as Dale Earnhardt, Jr. bumped Carl Edwards out of the lead on the final laps, winning in a cloud of controversy. Adding to the excitement, Edwards crashed into Dale Jr.’s number 8 Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the cool-down lap and then confronted Dale Jr. in Victory Lane. Dale Jr. was officially named winner of the inaugural CARFAX 250 and Edwards was penalized with a fine and probation for his post-race actions.
